The watermelon (Citrullus lanatus = Citrullus vulgaris) is an annual creeping herbaceous plant belonging to the Cucurbitaceae family.
It features a hairy stem with tendrils and five-lobed leaves.
The fruit is large, with a juicy flesh (more than 90% water), numerous seeds, nearly spherical, with a light green rind and sweet, refreshing, pink or red flesh.
Growing Recommendations: Sowing occurs from February to May, depending on the desired cycle and the cultivation area.
It can be directly sown in the ground or in trays for later transplanting when they have two to three leaves.
It is recommended to use drip irrigation for optimal growth.
Harvest from June in early areas.
Crimson Sweet Watermelon: Fruits are round-oval, weighing between 5-8 kg, with a light green rind featuring dark green stripes.
For cultivation, sow from March to May depending on the area, either in trays for transplantation or directly in rows placed about 100 cm apart, using 5-6 seeds per hole.
